Fully automatic telescopic grandstand for Schakelbox

A new multipurpose hall was set up in the former Cinema Cinestar in Waregem. Through a public tender, we were awarded the contract to design, manufacture and install a fully automatic telescopic grandstand.

Customised telescopic grandstand

The new grandstand had to meet a number of strict requirements in terms of dimensions and functionality. Our customised solution consists of an electrically powered telescopic grandstand with push chain technology and fully automatic seats. The grandstand fits seamlessly into a fixed balcony structure, which was also designed and built by us.

Rigid chain drive

The grandstand has a rigid chain propulsion system. The chain system operates completely independently of the floor and does not use the resistance of the floor in any way. The push chain system has been proven to be the best drive system for opening and closing retractable grandstands due to its unmatched stability. 

Fully automatic seating 

The grandstand seats are raised and lowered fully automatically. This mechanical movement is made possible by the use of the chain drive system. The seats are raised and locked in the same movement as the grandstand is opened. When retracting, the seats are unlocked and lowered in a controlled manner. Total set-up time is less than 15 minutes with a single operator.

Finish and seats

The visible and invisible metal parts of the grandstand are powder coated in RAL 9005 (black). High-quality project carpet and velour side panels were chosen for the finish. The two central aisles are equipped with LED fibre indicators that visually guide the audience to their seats.

The seats are COS Tulipe, finished according to the customer's wishes. The upholstery is made from the durable Xtreme fabric by Camira Fabrics. The seats have a black metal base and black wooden armrests.
